Job Description
Jefferson College is requesting statements of interest and qualifications from qualified individuals or firms to provide consultant services in the development of a new Biomedical Electronics associate’s degree program. Qualifications statements will be received until 2:00 P.M., October 27, 2011 by the Jefferson College, 1000 Viking Drive, Hillsboro, MO 63050, Attn: Dr. Richard Turley. The envelope containing your proposal (1 original and 3 copies) should be plainly marked:

Qualifications for Biomedical Consultant Open until 2:00 P.M. October 27, 2011

I. PURPOSE

Jefferson College is seeking qualifications from qualified individuals or firms. The primary service for this contract will require working with the Dean of Career and Technical Education in the development of the curriculum and program for an Associate’s Degree in Biomedical Electronics.

I. Jefferson College is proposing to initiate a Biomedical Electronics program to train students to repair medical equipment. The goal is to develop curriculum, secure local and state approvals, and to enroll students in the fall of 2012. Missouri Dept. of Higher Education must have a copy of the college approved curriculum by April 1, 2012 to meet that deadline. The college currently has offerings in electronics. This new effort would emphasize medical equipment repair. It is a goal to eventually have the program approved by the International Electronics Technicians Association (ETA) and have students sit for credentialing exams.

II. QUALIFICATIONS

1. 5 or more years of experience in bio Medial Equipment Repair 2. Written communication skills 3. Verbal communication skills 4. Knowledge of curriculum development 5. An appropriate combination of experience and education

III. SCOPE OF SERVICES

1. Secure internal approvals for program courses by developing curriculum proposals for review by Academic Affairs Committee 2. Make application to Missouri Department of Higher Education for state approval 3. Complete the form for Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education approval 4. Assist in recruitment of qualified faculty

IV. SCHEDULE FOR SELECTION

Four (4) sets (1 original and 3 copies) of the statement of qualifications must be received by October 27 at 2:00 P.M. in the Office of the Vice President of Finance and Administration, Jefferson College, 1000 Viking Drive, Hillsboro, MO 63050.

It is anticipated that the committee will make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees on or about November 4, 2011.
