Job Description

The purpose of this position is to handle all field dispatched calls. These calls can range from repairing mobile radios in tractors at a landfill to programming problems in a centracom consoles at a 911 Communications center.

Job function: 1. Install mobile and fixed location communications equipment. 2. Troubleshooting customer communications equipment and systems to determine which board or component is defective and replace as needed. 3. Dial into customer equipment and perform remote diagnostics or repair. 4. Discuss equipment operation and problems with customer personnel to determine a repair schedule. 5. Performing various activities associated with company service vehicles, such as, installing test equipment, maintaining repair parts supply and arranging vehicle service. 6. Maintain a professional attitude while working with the customer, fellow employees and management personnel. 7. Repair equipment after being called for emergency work at any time of day or night. 8. Follow safe work procedures when handling high voltage equipment and various hand tools and power tools. 9. Accurately complete job tickets and warranty claim forms and turn in on a timely manner. 10. Interpret and apply information in equipment service publications. 11. Assist sales people with equipment selections 12. Supervise installations techs at job sites.

Additional Salary Information: Based on Experience

Requirements
This position requires a minimum of two years experience as 2-way bench tech and a two year technical degree or equivalent military training with a clean driver's record. Additionally, you must have a minimum of 80 hours of class room training on Motorola mobile and fixed equipment, excellent soldering skills, basic knowledge of computers, audio, RF, digital, and microprocessor electronic circuits found in communications equipment. You must also be able to use a variety of test equipment such as service monitor, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, multimeter, frequency counter, watt meter etc. This job requires heavy lifting and bending in all types of weather conditions. FCC license or CCNA counts as 50 hours classroom training each and 10 years of bench or field tech experience counts as equivalent tech degree.
